Auto Focus Binoculars

Auto focus binoculars have helped me get comfortable using binoculars again. I have been nearsighted for quite a few years now and it is my right eye that has the most difficulty. This causes an imbalance in my eyesight for distances. My right eye focuses differently than my left eye. I also wear glasses for seeing at a distance, especially when hunting. Wearing eyeglasses also makes it more difficult to use binoculars. You can look through binoculars with eyeglasses on but to get a good field of view you have to smash your glasses tight against your face.

To use binoculars in the past I always had to fiddle with the individual eye focus settings to get a focused look with both eyes. This was alright until someone else picked up those binoculars and changed the eye focus. I have also had other binoculars that I could not get focused for both eyes.

I have cured this problem for myself by using focus free binoculars. These binoculars have no general focus or individual eye focus. They are always in focus. Now I’m not an optics expert but I assume that this lack of focus capability probably compromises the overall optical quality, but for moderate to lower priced binoculars I can see quite well with them.

I used my auto focus binoculars year when I was whitetail doe hunting with my children. It was youth doe hunting day and we wanted to make sure that we were shooting at a doe. I was able to use my focus free binoculars to spot the does for them. The gun that they were using did not have a scope. They just had to worry about looking for a good shot after I picked out the doe for them.

If you have trouble focusing binoculars, give auto focus binoculars a try.

Another option is to look into getting a high quality pair of binoculars. I've looked through a couple pair of expensive binoculars at Cabela's and they were crystal clear. I've also looked through a pair of Bushnell Buckhorn binoculars that impressed me. At only about $100 these binoculars could be within the price range of most hunters.
