Cuddeback Expert Picture Quality

We gave the Cuddeback Expert a B- for picture quality. As far as the major manufactured cameras are concerned this camera takes better pictures than most. So far I'd compare it favorably to the Leaf River 6.0 and the prior Cuddeback 3.0 megapixel camera, although it looks like the pictures may be a touch better than the older Cuddeback.

Overall the picture quality is good. The only drawbacks are that the flash can be overpowering when the deer are close and it may not be triggering the flash late enough into the morning and early enough in the evening but these problems are minor. The other thing is that even though the pictures are good they still don't measure up to those trail cameras that use a Sony digital camera and you can get one of these for just a little more money. For example the Trail Watcher is $25 more than the Cuddeback but has proven to be a very dependable trail camera that takes great pictures.

So far the flash seems to be doing a good job at our feeders. I need to put it in on of our food plots to see just how far the flash will reach.

Take a look at the pictures below and you can judge the picture quality.

This first picture is an example of the flash lighting up the deer a little too much when the deer is close.

You can see in this picture that at this time of the evening the flash did not fire and the deer are too dark. This same thing happens in the early morning.

Cuddeback Expert Picture 2

The Cuddeback Expert has a little trouble with moving deer. This picture is kind of neat since it looks like the deer may not have a head.
