I've been reading deer hunting magazines ever since I was a kid. The pictures of whitetail bucks always mesmerized me and they still do to this day.

Several years ago I ordered a subscription to Deer and Deer Hunting magazine. Since then this magazine has been a mainstay in my reading library. It has always had a good blend of deer hunting stories along with deer related research articles and practical information about whitetail deer management.

The articles are written by some of the best in the whitetail business.

Charles Alsheimer is a regular contributor. His articles and the excellent photography that always accompany them are very down to earth. He has also started writing a deer management section that I enjoy. His land situation sounds similar to ours and his management practices can be used on smaller parcels as can ours. Charles also has some interesting insights into the effects of the moon on the whitetail deer rut. These opinions are somewhat controversial but interesting to read, you'll have to decide for yourself.

Leonard Lee Rue III answers questions in every issue and has many years experience in the whitetail woods.

John J. Ozoga spent many years researching deer in Michigan and writes articles that reveal what was learned during those years. Some may not like research type articles but I like to know why deer do some of the things that they do. Their research was very practical and interesting since they were able to manipulate the deer population inside of the one square mile enclosure.

Ted Nugent also contributes and his writing style is like no other. What would you expect? He surely has a zest for the outdoors.

These are only a few of the contributors and each adds a unique blend to the whitetail deer information provided in each issue.

Deer and Deer Hunting is also not afraid to take on controversial issues. For example in past issues they have looked at both sides of baiting, high fences and hunting with dogs. So far I believe they have done a descent job in presenting both sides of each issue that they have covered.

I have learned a lot from the articles in this magazine over the years and you can too. The pictures are great to look at but this deer hunting magazine has a lot of great information.
