July 1st Whitetail Deer Pictures

This album of Whitetail Deer Pictures contains digital scouting camera pictures taken in the weeks before July 1, 2005. Since it had only been a week since our last visit we didn't have as many pictures to look over for this page. For some reason the cameras hadn't taken as many pictures as well, maybe due to the thunderstorms that rolled through.

Our EagleEye was monitoring one of our food plots. We wanted to know how much the deer were using the plot and if they were paying any attention to the deer deterrent that we had out. We got our answer; stay tuned to The Food Plot Journal for full details.

We finally got pictures of a few fawns in the clover plot. We knew they were there somewhere, we'd seen them with our own eyes.

The bucks are coming along and we are starting to identify some of them.

Wounded whitetail buck

The buck in the background appears that it may be a buck that we got pictures of late last year with a wound between its shoulder blades. We aren't sure if this is that buck but it has a strange looking area on it's back. Last year he was an eight point. You can read about it and see the pictures in last year's deer season journals where we did a lot of babbling about our deer season.

whitetail fawn

Finally a picture of a fawn. This one was in the middle of one of our clover plots. It's interesting how we haven't gotten any pictures of fawns at the feeders. We had seen fawns, so we knew they were there but their mothers haven't taken them to the feeders yet. This fawn was only about 50 yards from a feeder in this picture but never went near the feeder and had its picture taken.

Deer sniffing a feeder handle

Here is a fine looking buck growing a nice set of antlers and another deer in the back sniffing the handle on our deer feeder winch. This is at least the second picture that we have of a deer sniffing one of the handles. Maybe they will get used to the smell of our hands and when they smell us while we're hunting they will just think that we're a deer feeder handle.

Eight point whitetail buck

A real close picture of a decent looking eight point. There was a short tined eight point that came to this feeder late last year, this could be him. We will keep watching to see how big this deer gets.

Antlers in velvet

This picture caught our attention real fast when we were looking at them on the cameras display in the woods. The rack from behind seems to look more massive than from other perspectives. A buck's antlers can be real deceiving when looking at them from different directions.

Three whitetail bucks

Out of five deer in this picture three of them are bucks. Apparently the raccoon isn't a bit afraid. The buck on the front left is a six point with no brow tines yet. It will be interesting if he develops some as the summer goes along. He looks like he's developing a pretty decent spread.
