June 25th Whitetail Deer Pictures
This album of Whitetail Deer Pictures contains digital scouting camera pictures taken in the weeks before June 25, 2005. We had three cameras out again since we purchased the Penn's Woods Digital Scout. I had one problem; I had forgotten to turn the Penn's Woods on so it didn't take any pictures. After you do the walk test with this camera you have to change the switch settings and turn the unit off and back on again. I did everything except turn it on. When I found that this had happened I put the camera back out Friday night. Ryan and I went out to the feeder looking for raccoons after dark and noticed that the camera wouldn't take our picture. This time I had put the batteries in the camera backwards. This newest camera is making me look stupid, easy as that is to do.
We still haven’t seen any fawns in any of the pictures. I guess their mothers still have them laying low. The bucks are starting to get enough antler size that I am able to identify a couple of them. The nine point that we saw last year is recognizable again and I’m pretty sure that we have a couple of pictures of last years largest eight point. There have also been several other smaller bucks that have some more growing to do. Since we didn’t get any pictures from the Penn’s Woods we only have pictures from one feeder. The next time we get pictures from the other feeder those bucks will have three more weeks of antler growth since we last saw them. Maybe we will be able to identify one of them.
This buck was a nine point last year and it looks like he’s going to have a similar rack this year. It will be interesting to watch how much bigger his antlers get over the next couple of months.
I wonder how much longer these spikes will get. If you look real close you can see the other trail camera on a tree in the background to the right of the feeder tripod.
This doe really has her ears back looking at the camera. It is interesting how little hair is on their ears at this time of the year and look at those flies. That would drive me crazy.
This young whitetail buck already has brow tines. We’ll have to watch to see if he gets much more beam length and additional points.
Another picture of the nine point buck, you can count the points in this picture.
The nine point is back along with a smaller buck and two turkeys. You can also see the other scouting camera in the background to the left.
