March 17th Deer Pictures
I only had six cameras out this week and I forgot to turn one of them on when after I set it up so I only had three operating cameras. It's been quite a while since I've only had five camras out but we still got several good pictures. Now that all of the bucks have shed their antlers we'll be looking for the most interesting pictures so you will be seeing some of the other wildlife along with our deer. I'm hoping that we can start catching coyotes and bobcats with our cameras again soon. I'll also start monitoring our food plots again soon. Last year they started to green up in late March and I would like to see how soon the deer start using them again once they do green up. I would think that the deer would head to the plots once they green up after a winter of eating woody browse. These pictures were taken with our Camtrakker Digital Ranger, Trail Watcher 2035, Trail Watcher 2060, Woodland SpyCam and EagleEye.
We got pictures of more fighting deer again this week. I can't tell if they are bucks or does, but from the pictures before and after this one I think they may be bucks.
A buck with two black spots where his antlers will start growing again.
A turkey gobbler in the mud under one of our feeders.
A squirrel is sitting on top of the camera watching a crow under the feeder.
We get a lot of pictures with beautiful sunsets and sunrises but we show the bucks when they have their antlers. Now we can show you some of the pretty scenery we regularly see in our pictures.
I've dabbled a little in taxidermy and pictures like this one show me that taxidermists often make deer look better than they actually do at times.
