November 20th Whitetail Deer Pictures
This album of Whitetail Deer Pictures contains digital scouting camera pictures taken in the week before November 20, 2005.
These pictures span the week right before the opening of buck season here in West Virginia. I was looking forward to seeing this last set of pictures before buck season since the deer had seemed scattered in the last couple of weeks. I was hoping to see that they had returned to patterns closer to normal, but the sightings were still out of the ordinary as compared to earlier in the fall.
The most exciting pictures were of the buck that was a large eight point last year. He showed up on the cameras on three occasions this week. Just when I thought that maybe someone had shot him in bow season on another ridge he showed up. This gave me one more reason to crawl out of bed on Monday morning.
One full year of 24/7 digital scouting camera use has left me with some interesting insights. I'll have to put these on a page here sometime. It's been a fun year.
This week we recieved 1200 total pictures from four cameras. This week the cameras used were theWoodland SpyCam, Penn's Woods Digital Scout, EagleEye Trail Camera and the Stealth Cam 3.0mp scouting camera.
This is the deer I had been waiting for. Last year he was a big eight point and now he is a nine point. Notice that he is at this feeder at 4:39AM and one other time he showed up at about 2:00 in the afternoon. Apparently he has a schedule that is different than most other deer.
Although he may not have the biggest antlers his reclusive nature and older age would make him a real trophy in my book.
This is the eight point buck that still has Ryan kicking himself. He came real close to getting a shot at this buck on Friday evening. Last week I thought that this buck had been a regular earlier in the fall but I now believe that this is a different buck.
This young six point just started showing up recently but I never saw him during the first week of buck season.
This seven point is one of our regulars and I saw him more than any other buck during buck season. He's a nice deer and should be a respectable buck next year.
I passed this buck up on Wednesday morning after shooting a wounded deer on Tuesday morning. I may regret that decision but if he survives the season I won't pass him up next year. He could also be in big trouble if I see him again this year.
This is a small seven or eight point buck that wandered in from somewhere. I didn't see him during the first week of buck season. I heard that a hunter killed a seven point buck along our property line, this may have been the buck.
