October 8th Whitetail Deer Pictures

This album of Whitetail Deer Pictures contains digital scouting camera pictures taken in the weeks before October 8, 2005. Except for a very small spike the velvet is all gone and the bucks are fattening up for the on-coming rut.

We found our first scrape of the fall and they have been rubbing trees for at least a couple of weeks now.

We think we may have finally taken a picture of the large 8 point buck from last year. Unfortunately we only got a couple of pictures of this buck and they were not good enough to make this page. Hopefully next week we'll get some more pictures of him and post one of them here.

There is one eight point buck that we are not seeing any more. It's hard to tell where he may have wandered off to or whether or not we may see him again. He could always show up again in our next set of pictures.

Fighting whitetail bucks

This looks like a small five point and the odd racked six point in a little pushing match. It must not have been too serious since the pictures on either side of this one show the bucks just standing around.

Six point whitetail buck

A close up picture of the odd racked six point buck. His antlers look more like those of a mule deer than a whitetail.

Seven point buck

This seven point whitetail buck looks like he may have tried to get his left brow tine, when I blow the picture up it looks a lot like it just may be a burr on his antler.

Eight Point Whitetail Buck

This close racked eight point buck has become a regular. Hopefully we'll get a few looks at him during the season.

9 point whitetail

It's amazing how this nine point whitetail has seemed to put on a lot of body weight over the last month. I'm curious to see how big he will look in person. He's starting to dwarf the other deer in the pictures. Remember there was a buck with a bigger body than this buck last year. We think we may have gotten a picture of him this time but we are not sure.

Strange buck picture

I blew this picture up so you could get a better look. Ryan and I couldn't quit figure this picture out. It looks like this deer has been stretched out, his front and back just do not seem to match.
