Wednesday Deer Season Update

Wednesday Deer Season Update

On Wednesday morning I started the day at the oldhouse feeder/food plot area in a blind. I saw a button buck, spike and the nine point buck. If I hadn't shot the small 8 point yesterday I probably would have shot the 9 point. He is a real nice buck.

Since I shot the small buck I decided to hold out for the older 9 point that I have been watching for two years. He has become a recluse and will be hard to find. The challenge will be fun and I'll likely lose but if I don't find him he'll be even bigger next year.

I saw one rub today that I don't remember seeing previously. Maybe the bucks are going to start looking around again and we can catch them moving around.

In the afternoon Ryan and I moved the blind from the oldhouse area to the far end of the property and spent a couple of hours in it until dark. We saw four deer including a spike but not the buck I'm looking for.

On my walk back to the house I jumped a large buck. He crossed the logging road in front of me and wasn't wasting any time. If I had to guess what deer he was I would say that he was the 9 point that I had seen earlier in the morning.

The day ended in a blanket of snow, it was pretty but getting a bit cold.

Here is the nine point buck that I did get to see today. I also got to know the spike standing in the background pretty good over the week.

Snow from a hunting blind

I took this picture while we were sitting in the blind. Unfortunately there were no deer to take a picture of.
