13 Point Buck
On a farm in northwestern Missouri, outside of Kansas City, I first saw this buck while bow hunting the week before rifle season. It walked right by my stand but it was so close I couldn't get a shot without blowing my cover. Opening day of rifle season, I went back to the same stand. No luck while in the stand. We decided to head out of the woods just before dark which is not what I normally do. As I was leaving the field, about 100 yards off, I saw the rack sticking up in the grass. I stopped, aimed, and took him down in one perfect shot. When I got to him, I discovered it was the monster buck I had seen just two days earlier.
Not only was this the biggest buck I've ever gotten, but it is also the first buck I ever got on opening day.
I am getting him mounted, so I don't know how he scored yet. An estimate was 160 and he is 13 points.
