2013 Black Bear Pictures

We only had one visit from a black bear in 2012 and that was in December, right after deer season.

It's now been over seven months between sightings and this bear is at a different feeder.

The bear showed up at about 5:45 PM and Ryan showed up at the feeder at 6:30 PM to collect the memory cards and batteries.  We wonder if Ryan ran him off when he arrived at the feeder.  Unfortunately the bear didn't show up on either of the other two cameras in this area.

The fence shocker is on this feeder and we wonder if he got zapped.  He bent the support bars and tipped the feeder over before he left.  Thankfully he didn't damage anything bad enough that we couldn't get it up and running again.

We'll see if he shows up again.

The first picture is a nice one and it would have been nice if we had captured his head in the second, but you have to take what you get.

Our second black bear sighting was on September 10th.  This young bear showed up at one of our feeders and then was caught by a camera at a mineral lick nearby.  Thankfully this little bear didn't have what it took to cause any damage.  Maybe we'll see him again.

Our November black bear visit was another destructive one.  This bear completely destroyed this feeder.  The only thing we can use again is the tripod.  Since our spinners seem to be short term now that the black bears are ruining them we'll probably spend less money on them.

He showed up over a couple of days and didn't seem to like getting his picture taken.  He turned both of the cameras around on their trees.  We had to do some repairs of one of the cameras.  We caught him with three cameras.

It's been a good year for black bear pictures, but a bad year for our feeders.

We had a lot of pictures of him and have seven good ones to show you.

The early December black bear visit was a destructive one.  This time he destroyed two of our three feeders.  The day I visited I wasn't able to find one of the feeders.  He must have carried it over the hill.  We'll have to look for it when we're shed hunting in the area.

He also doesn't like getting his picture taken.  He turned another camera around and messed with the rest of them as well.  Thankfully he didn't ruin any of the cameras this time.

We got a lot of pictures of him this time.   He showed up on two occasions at each location.

Here are nine of the best pictures we got this time.

Compare this bear to the one we saw in 2012.
