April 17,2015 Whitetail Photographs

We have two bits of new this week: a black bear found us again and the bucks have started to grow their antlers.

We may be stretching a little to say that the bucks are growing their antlers, but they are starting to get a little above the fuzz. It seems that the smaller bucks actually start to shoot up while the older bucks seem to form a bulb. How's that for a scientific description?

Seeing the bucks start to sprout their antlers is a good thing, seeing the black bear wasn't what we were looking for. He visited both feeders we had out and knocked both of them over. We'll probably leave them empty for a while. There isn't any purpose in putting them back out for him to knock over again. Maybe when late summer rolls around we'll put them back out again.

Since we already told you a bear visited it's probably not a secret that we got some good black bear pictures so check out the black bear pictures page. We didn't get any coyote pictures this time.

You can see this young bucks antlers popping up.

Here's another buck with sprouted antlers.

Two bucks in this picture. You can see their coat is changing now as well.

A closer view of one of our bucks.

Another buck at sunrise.

Here are two bucks at one of our mineral licks.
