April 18th Whitetail Photographs

The bucks antlers are starting to form bumps that look like their ready to jump up, but prior years tell us they start slowly. Unfortunately we saw more snow this week. Hopefully they were the last snow flakes this spring.

Other than the snow flurries it was dry enough to fertilize some of our clover plots. We hope the lime and fertilizer we added this spring will pay off with nicer plots than we've had the past couple of years. I planned to try to improve our dirt this spring and we've made a good attempt and we now have to wait to see what good we've done.

The deer haven't started using the mineral licks yet so the cameras we put on them didn't provide much. This week we put all but one on the feeders. There are a couple cameras that have been having some problems and a week at a feeder will help us diagose the possible problems. Once we get our cameras figured out we'll fan them out again.

This week we didn't get any coyote, bobcat or any other critter on our cameras. Check back next week.

Here is a buck coming in to one of our feeders.

Another buck at the same feeder, it may or may not be the same buck.

This is a young one with fuzzy small nubs.

Another buck at a different feeder that looks like an older buck.

Nice color in this close-up of one of our deer.

Here it is, more snow. Hopefully the last this year.
