August 12th, 2015 Whitetail Photographs
Six days since our last set of pictures. The bucks are reaching their full antler size for the year so we now have a pretty good idea of what we have. Looking back at last year's pictures shows that our bucks are getting bigger, but not at an alarming rate. As a matter of fact, one of our ten point bucks doesn't seem to have grown any bigger. This buck is also the most aggressive buck on our property, so I guess we need to think about whether or not we want to keep this buck around.
The rest of our bucks have grown and the big eight point from last year looks pretty good and has grown a ninth point. He was real nice buck last year and would have been real tempting if we would have seen him last year. He may have picked up more character this year.
The overbite buck is a little narrow, but he's growing tall. We saw him in the hayfield when we were putting the cameras back out.
We moved some cameras around this week. We're letting the apple trees and the licking branch rest this week. In other words, we haven't been getting pictures of bucks for this page in those locations. We'll probably try them again. The attractant at Whippoorwill isn't getting any different bucks so it could get moved after this week if we don't see anything different. We put one at the end of the hayfield this week, mostly because we were in a hurry. Maybe we'll be surprised with what we see here. It's fun trying too find the best spots to catch the bigger bucks.
We put two feeders out last week and the bear found one and knocked it over. He was less than half an hour ahead of Megan and I when we were out collecting the memory cards. We also got two bobcat pictures to show you.
Here is a young eight point buck. We have another buck that looks a lot like this one, but is bigger.
This big ten point has only been giving us pictures with him in the background.
Here is the eight point that looks like the younger buck in the first picture. I have to look close to see that this one is bigger.
This is going to be a tough decision. One more year and this buck could be a true monster.
This small buck isn't camera shy.
Overbite is bigger this year and looked good in person.
I'm having a hard time deciding whether or not this buck is bigger than last year.
