August 8th Whitetail Photographs

We think we have three pretty nice bucks this year, but we only got pictures of two of them. The ten point from the old house area didn't show up this week. We're not sure why, but it may have something to do with the black bear. We set up our cameras and left on Saturday and a short time later the bear showed up and ruined our feeder. He continued to show up through Wednesday. How much this would affect the movement of the ten point we're not sure, but let's go ahead and blame it on the bear.

We're not sure what to do about the bear and our feeders. This week we put about 25 pound of corn in a container for them to eat freely at the location of the feeder that he tore up the week before. We use the corn feeders to provide a small amount of corn to keep the deer interested in our property so we may have to come up with another plan. We may go ahead and start a small protein feed program a little earlier than we had planned. We'll have to do some high powered thinking. That should set off the smoke alarms!

The apple trees didn't provide any good pictures again this week so we moved the camera to a food plot in the hayfield. We see deer in this plot a lot so we'll see if we get any pictures close enough to see detail.

Right now the eight point looks like it may be our biggest buck. We're hoping the ten point doesn't run him off.

Of course we got a lot of bear pictures so make sure you take a look at them, but we also got a couple of coyote pictures. Take a look at them as well.

Here is the six point we saw last week at the apple trees.

The small eight point. Do you suppose he has chased off the ten point?

Right now this looks like our biggest buck. We hope his antlers are big enough that his brow tines don't break off this year.

The overbite buck......what do we do with him?

The ten point who seems to be the boss. It's not always about antler size.

Maybe this little fellow is the real boss at this feeder.
