December 20th Whitetail Photos
We can now say that we've hit the point now that we know what bucks we have left for next year. Other than the buck that Ryan shot and the one that got away, the rest of the bucks that we've been watching this fall are still around. There will be a new dominant buck on our property next year and it looks like it may be the ten point, but you never know what may happen.
After the black bear tore up two of our three feeders the lone remaining feeder is the place to be. We still throw a little corn on the ground in the other spots and some sweet feed give us some extra pictures. The other stand-by spot is one mineral lick that keeps them interested year-round. We've also put a camera at another mineral lick to see what comes by.
We also see that bucks have started shedding their antlers. A five point has lost one side and a spike has lost one spike as well. We assume we'll see more bucks have shed their antlers each time we get pictures over the next few weeks. We also got pictures of bucks still sparring, maybe their figuring out next years pecking order.
Thankfully the black bear didn't show up and destroy anything else this time, but we did get coyote and bobcat pictures so make sure you check out those pages.
One of the two bucks who've already shed one antler.
This buck has a big body and some thickness to his antlers so we're curious how big he may be next year.
This could be the dominant buck next year. Hopefully he picks up a lot of antler size.
This is another buck we'll be watching next year. He should at least be a big eight point again, but we've seen the ten point intimidate him so he'll not likely be the dominant buck.
We're not sure which buck this is, but we really like this picture.
This buck was wounded last year and we think he spent a lot of energy healing. Maybe he'll spend this year growing.
