East Texas Monster Hog

This HOG came in on me at night, back in 04', I believe it was, I was using my Remington 870 Express Magnum pump with an optronics 250 yard scope mounted spot light. Loaded with Federal 23/4 rifled slugs. The time was around Thanksgiving. This big guy came up out of the bottom to raid the pen next door to me which had about 80 head of wild pigs in it. I shot him just a little far back on his hind quarter, and he spun around and took off down through the open field and vanished into the darkness. Well a month had passed and it was Christmas day, when my neighbor, the ranch hand at the time, came over and woke me up from an afternoon nap. He was really excited, and told me to get my gun, because that monster pig is trying to tear down the wild pig corral. I grabbed my Savage 270, loaded a couple of shells, and headed down the fenceline, toward the hog pin. When I got there, that big bruiser was knocking cows out of the way, and lifting up the entire fenceline with his snout. I got a good rest on the fence and nailed him right behind the left shoulder. He ran about 40feet and keeled over. That big boy was 500lbs, 5 of us full grown men could barely lift it onto my carryall. He was 7ft. long, had thick tusks, but were worn down from rooting around so much I guess. This was the Holiday Hogg, first at Thanksgiving, and then at Christmas.
