January 31st Whitetail Photographs

It's the end of January and we only have pictures of one buck with antlers in this set of pictures and he lost them early in the past three weeks. Unfortunately the snow on the ground didn't allow us to look for shed antlers. Once the snow melts we'll be looking for the sheds from the eight point.

We had all of our cameras at minerals, protein feed and our lone feeder. Since the bucks have lost their antlers we look for other interesting pictures and I think we have some good ones. The deer did find two of our three new mineral sites and we did get some good pictures. For some reason the deer pretty much ignored one of the new sites. We spiced it up a bit this week so we'll see what happens.

We put a second feeder out this week so we're watching it along with the other feeder, minerals and protein feed spots. We're curious to see if the deer move back to this second feeder location that used to be their favorite spot prior to the black bear tearing it up. Our problem will be identifying them.

Once again we went three weeks and we didn't get any coyote, bobcat or black bear pictures. Check back next time.

Do I know you?

This is the last buck to lose his antlers. This picture was taken on January 13th.

Since he's our last buck with antlers we'll put two pictures on the page this time. This one is from January 14th.

A close-up of the overbite buck. We can still identify him with his unique jaw.

A close-up of a young buck.

This picture sums up what our weather has been like so far this winter.
