It's almost been a month since our last set of pictures. The holidays and a good does of Covid kept us away for a while. That being said, these pictures were taken from mid December until just after Christmas so we feel pretty confident that the bucks we see here are still around and form our crop for next year.
The good news is that we finally picked up another buck. We got two pictures of an eight point that I would estimate in the 3 1/2 age category. If this is correct we should see what kind of potential he has next year. We looked back through all of our pictures from the fall and can't find this buck in any of them so it appears he's moved on from another location. Hopefully he likes our little neck of the woods.
Our biggest buck, the nine point, is still around and we saw him at every location we had a camera. He's not shy, just hungry.
We found one shed antler on our visit, a spike! Do you realize how hard it is to find a spike in a field?
Here is our new eight point. If I'm correct about his age he holds promise for next years antlers.
The same eight point. Why not two pictures. This one at the same location, one day later.
The big nine point after about six inches of snow. Notice how it stuck to his left antler.
The same nine point buck at a different location. You can see the hole in his left beam in this picture.
Our next biggest buck is a six point. I'm guessing 2 1/2. A big freaky six point would be fun, but I won't be upset if he grows more points.
Our five point. Basket racked eight next year?
This is a four point. About the same size as the five point above.
This deer was photo bombed by a bird. Every once in a while we get an interesting picture like this one.
