June 13th Whitetail Photographs
Things are starting to get exciting. We have our first buck with eight points and more with at least six points, but it's still hard to tell them apart. They're growing fast at this point and what we might think is two different bucks may be the same buck who has just grown more antler over a few more days.
We're also seeing fawns in our pictures. We knew does were having their fawns since we were seeing them on our way to work. It's always nice to see the young deer and we have a real good picture this time. Pay particular attention to the picture. The mom is white foot's sister and it looks like it may be a buck. Maybe we'll have another white foot buck.
The deer are still hitting the mineral licks pretty hard so we're seeing bucks there. I hope they're getting what they need for bigger antlers. We've been adding minerals more then past years to see if it makes any difference. The mineral lick close to the house gave us one good buck picture this time. We could have seen him from the house if it wasn't dark and we would have been there.
My dad bought this property over 40 years ago and the property has blessed our family. Last week he went to heaven after being ill for almost a year. It's hard being down there without him, but everywhere you go or look there are good memories. He'll always be a big part of this place.
The bear has stayed away so we put out a bucket feeder this week. We'll see if he finds it and uses it as a pinata.
Once again this week we didn't get any black bear, bobcat or coyote pictures, maybe next time.
Here is the white foot doe with her new fawn.
A buck at the mineral lick we can see from the porch.
Here is a buck with six velvet points at a mineral lick.
This is another buck at the same mineral lick.
Our first buck with eight points. This picture was six days after the buck in the third picture so it may be the same buck.
You can't see them all well in this picture, but these three bucks all have at least six points. They're off to a good start.
