We had taken our cameras out of the woods once the bucks lost their antlers and I have to admit that it was a little depressing to look at the home page and see that winter picture of a buck. So, a couple of weeks ago we dusted a camera off and put it at a licking branch near a mineral lick that also looked over a clover plot. Wow, three reasons a deer might get caught on camera. What was the first thing we saw? A black bear. How about that. Make sure you check out the black bear page.
Otherwise we did capture a couple of buck pictures. In addition to these photos I also saw two bucks in the field that were both at least eight pointers. That is cause for some hope in June.

This one was one of the earliest pictures. Looks like good base size with minimal brow tines. Maybe the six from last year?
Longer brow tines but the base and antler size looks smaller that the buck above on this later picture. It's real difficult to tell what is going on when they are growing them fast at this time of the year.
