May 11th Whitetail Photographs
Two weeks since our last set of pictures and the buck's antlers still haven't shown a lot of growth. Ryan thought that we were behind, but I took a look at the May 11th picture page form 2011 and the antler growth is comparable.
We moved three cameras to our food plots, but we didn't have much success. With the spring green up, food is plentiful so the deer aren't concentrated in any one place and seem to be able to find food about anywhere. One other factor that I noticed is that the openings in the woods created by the wind storm last year are filling with a lot of green on the open floor of the woods.
The wounded buck is still identifiable. His antler growth isn't anything to talk about yet. He's just barely started.
We didn't get any coyote, bobcat or black bear pictures this week. Check back next week, we're hearing the coyotes, we're just not seeing them.
This weeks pictures were taken with our
Trail Watcher 2060,
Trail Watcher 4220,
Bigfoot SLE and
Penn's Woods Digital Scout.
The wounded buck, he's got a long way to go in antler growth. Bigfoot SLE
This buck looks like he's off to a decent start walking through a food plot past our mineral lick. Penns Woods DS-07
White foot is our biggest antlered buck so far. Trail Watcher 2060
This buck is growing but doesn't seem to be showing thickness at his bases. Trail Watcher 2060
The overbite buck is growing too, but not with a lot of thickness. Trail Watcher 4220
This looks to be a decent size buck, but his antlers aren't off to an impressive start. He's either a late bloomer or he's not as big as we think he looks. Trail Watcher 4220
