October 5th, 2015 Whitetail Photographs

We're into bow season now and we have a handle on the regular bucks on our property. Two of them are spikes that live about a hundred yards from each other. On Monday night I thought that we had seen the same spike twice, but today I realized that there are two of them that spend time eating just about a hundred yards apart. They're curious little guys.

We got to see a picture of the big buck that was shot on the next ridge. Sometimes you hear about a big buck shot and it turns out that it isn't all that big. That wasn't the case here, this one was really a big buck. It shows that we can grow big bucks in our area. We definitely hadn't seen this buck on our property.

We didn't get a lot of pictures this week. It was raining when I put the cameras out last Tuesday so I didn't add any corn, protein feed or attracants and no one else did later in the week so deer activity was down some. The good side is that we still got pictures of all of our bigger bucks.

This week we gave them all of the goodies and we're also watching a couple of scrapes. They're using the licking branch along the old road and scraping under it so we have a camera back there and we're watching another scrape along the new right of way.

We did get two treestands up. Ryan put one up overlooking the new right of way and I put one up at the old house today. I'll get a good look at the food plot and mineral lick, and if I lean just right and squint I can see the feeder.

The black bear didn't show up this week and we didn't get any bobcat or coyote pictures. Check back next week.

The ten point with the short G-2's. I'd like to see this buck around the other bucks to see just how much of a bully he is this year.

A fight between the crab claw buck and the six point with no brow tines. This little sparring match ended real fast when the ten point from the previous picture showed up.

Our crab claw buck at the old house feeder. Sometimes he looks big and sometimes he looks small.

Our typical ten point on a rainy day.

The overbite buck. I sure hope we're the hunters who eventually shoot this buck so we can see what's going on with his jaw, but this isn't the year to take him.

The nine point buck. I'd like to get a look at him to see just how big he is.
