This week around my house I saw a buck running around looking for lady deer. Normally the ladies aren't ready to be courted yet so the bucks are running like a hound dog. This often gives us an odd week of pictures and that was no different this year. The running bucks don't always visit their normal haunts, in other words, food sources. The bucks have also separated and don't enjoy each others company like they did a few weeks ago. This left us with only four pictures of mature bucks this week. Compare that to eight mature buck pictures last week.
Sometimes at this time of the year we get a picture of a wandering buck that we've never seen before. This didn't happen this week. Maybe next week.
We did get one black bear picture this week, but it was only his back hip. Not worth making a page, just enough to let us know he's still around. We also saw two piles of bear poop. Yes, they do poop in the woods.
Here is our almost ten point. He's a nice looking buck.
We got a lot of pictures of this eight point buck and that's no different than past weeks. He's another nice looking buck. They always look wider from behind.
Genetics for brow tines, not so much. Genetics for width, maybe.
Finally a good close up picture of this nine point. Looks like he has a small sticker on his right base.
One of our two ten point bucks. The other one didn't show up this week.
Another five point without brow tines. Interesting shape to his small antlers.
