September 6th, 2015 Whitetail Photographs

We have one buck who has shed his velvet. It's the small eight point we call crab claw. In some pictures he looks like a decent size buck, but now that he's shed his velvet he looks much smaller. We're putting before and after pictures on the page so you can see the difference. The shed picture also shows him alongside a ten point, which makes him look that much smaller.

I think the overbite buck showed up at all five camera locations. We hope he doesn't wander off our property, he seems to get around a lot.

The ten point with the small G-2's hasn't seemed to add any antler size this year and it's his third year as a ten point. What do we do? The problem is that he is the most aggressive buck on our property.

We got all of our bucks. The big nine point was the hardest to find this week. He's our biggest buck so we hope he doesn't wander off.

We put one camera on attractant in one exploration spot, another watching a new area of a right of way, one at a possible licking branch and another at a trail leading into our hayfield. It will be interesting to see what we find.

The ten point at the old house was hard to see most of the summer, but has now become a regular. Go figure.

The black bear showed up at two of our feeders. He pulled one down and tore down some tree branches at the other but didn't get it down. Once again we got a lot of pictures.

We also got one bobcat picture. I'm now thinking that we may have more bobcats around than I had previously thought.

Here is the crab claw eight in velvet. He's not a bad looking buck.

The same eight point after shedding. The big ten point still in velvet makes him look small.

A little buck trying to be an eight point. Give him a couple of years and I see a high racked buck.

The same ten point as the second picture. I'd like to see him next to the nine point.

The overbite buck has become quite photogenic.

We think this is our biggest racked buck. We got pictures of him in two locations, but he didn't show up a lot.

What do you do with a buck like this? Take a look at last years pictures and see what you think.
